We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, exhibit suspicious activity, or remain inactive for an extended period.
4. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the Platform only for lawful, educational, and authorized purposes. You must NOT:
- Use any skills, tools, techniques, or knowledge gained from the Platform to attack, compromise, or disrupt systems you do not own or have explicit authorization to test
- Attempt to access, modify, or interfere with other users' accounts, data, lab environments, or virtual machines
- Use the Platform's virtual machines, networks, or infrastructure to launch attacks against external systems or networks
- Upload, distribute, or execute malware, ransomware, or other malicious software outside the scope of authorized lab exercises
- Share lab answers, flags, walkthrough solutions, or credentials in ways that undermine the learning experience for others
- Attempt to bypass resource quotas, access controls, or security mechanisms of the Platform
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to interact with the Platform without prior written authorization
- Engage in any activity that degrades Platform performance, disrupts services, or consumes excessive resources
- Upload, install, or use pirated, unlicensed, or unauthorized software within virtual machines — including but not limited to proprietary operating systems, network appliances (e.g., Cisco IOS), or paid virtual appliances. All software used must be properly licensed and legally obtained; the responsibility for ensuring legal compliance rests entirely with the user
Violations of this policy may result in immediate account suspension, permanent ban, and referral to law enforcement if criminal activity is suspected.
5. Virtual Lab Environments
The Platform provides virtualized environments for cybersecurity training. By using these environments, you acknowledge that:
- Virtual machines and networks are provisioned on shared cloud infrastructure and are subject to resource limits and quotas
- Lab environments may contain intentionally vulnerable software for educational purposes — this does not authorize you to exploit similar vulnerabilities in real-world systems
- Data stored within virtual machines is temporary and may be deleted when labs are reset, expired, or resources are reclaimed. You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of any important data within your lab environments
- You have full control of your lab environments and are responsible for maintaining their stability, configurations, and any software installed within them. The Platform is not liable for data loss, misconfigurations, or issues arising from user-created content
- The core platform infrastructure (databases, services, and management systems) is fully managed by CyberTask for stability and continuous availability. User-created virtual machines and lab content ("Materials") are the sole responsibility of their creators
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of virtual environments; maintenance, updates, or capacity limits may affect access
- All activities within lab environments may be logged and monitored for security and quality assurance purposes
6. Intellectual Property
All content, software, designs, logos, and materials on the Platform are owned by CyberTask or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
- Platform Content: Lab scenarios, challenge descriptions, tutorials, and educational materials created by CyberTask remain the property of CyberTask
- User-Created Content: Labs, questions, and materials created by instructors using the Platform remain the intellectual property of their respective creators, subject to a non-exclusive license for Platform operation
- Certificates: Certificates issued by the Platform are for personal use and must not be altered, forged, or misrepresented
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from Platform content without prior written consent.
7. Privacy & Data
We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you consent to:
- Collection of account information (name, email, organization)
- Recording of lab activity, scores, and performance data for educational tracking
- Logging of authentication events (login history, IP addresses, device information) for security purposes
- Use of cookies and session data to maintain your authenticated state
- Storage of data on secure, enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure
We do not sell personal data to third parties. Data may be shared with your organization's administrators if you are part of an institutional account.
8. Instructor & Content Creator Responsibilities
If you create labs, challenges, or educational content on the Platform, you agree that:
- Your content must be original or properly licensed for use on the Platform
- Lab environments must not be designed to attack, scan, or impact systems outside the Platform's isolated virtual networks
- You are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of your educational content
- You must not include real credentials, API keys, or sensitive data in lab materials
- Content that promotes illegal activities, harassment, or discrimination is strictly prohibited
9. Confidentiality of Privileged Features
Users who are granted elevated roles (including but not limited to Instructor, Branch Manager, and Administrator) gain access to internal platform features, tools, and interfaces that are not available to general users. These privileged features are considered confidential and proprietary.
As a privileged user, you agree NOT to publicly disclose, demonstrate, or distribute — in any form — internal platform features, including but not limited to:
- Administrative panels, dashboards, and management interfaces
- Lab creation, editing, and management tools
- Virtual network, machine, and infrastructure management features
- User management, branch management, and role assignment interfaces
- Resource quota systems, analytics, and reporting tools
- Any internal workflows, configurations, or architecture details not visible to public users
This includes, without limitation, publishing screenshots, screen recordings, video tutorials, blog posts, social media content, or any other public medium that reveals the design, functionality, or interface of privileged platform features.
Exception: Content you create on the Platform (your labs, educational materials, and training scenarios) remains your intellectual property and may be shared or discussed publicly. This restriction applies solely to the Platform's internal tooling and interfaces.
Violation of this clause may result in immediate account suspension or termination, permanent revocation of elevated privileges, and CyberTask reserves the right to pursue legal action to seek damages and injunctive relief.
10. Resource Quotas & Fair Use
The Platform operates on shared cloud infrastructure. To ensure fair access for all users:
- Each user and organization is subject to resource quotas (virtual machines, vCPUs, RAM, storage)
- Idle virtual machines may be automatically stopped or deallocated after a defined period
- Cryptocurrency mining, torrent downloading, or any non-educational resource-intensive workloads are strictly prohibited
- We reserve the right to throttle, suspend, or terminate resources that violate fair use policies
11. Certificates & Achievements
The Platform may issue certificates upon successful completion of labs or training programs. These certificates:
- Are issued based on verified completion of lab tasks and scoring criteria
- Are for personal and professional use (e.g., portfolios, resumes)
- Must not be altered, forged, or presented as official industry certifications
- May be revoked if we determine the underlying lab completion was achieved through cheating, exploitation of Platform vulnerabilities, or collaboration that violates lab rules
12. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CyberTask disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
- Uninterrupted, timely, or error-free operation of the Platform or virtual environments

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- We may notify you via email or through the Platform for significant changes
- Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms
15. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall be resolved through negotiation in good faith, and if necessary, through the appropriate legal channels.
